    We study the effects of mixed couplings for nonlinear Schrödinger systems. We show due to the mixed couplings there exist multiple vector positive solutions which exhibit interesting new patterns of co-existence of synchronization and segregation. For a 3-system we show the existence of multiple positive vector solutions with the first two components being synchronized and segregated from the third component. We investigate the asymptotic of these solutions with a large attractive coupling constant.

    Abstract

    In this paper we study the ground state solutions for a nonlinear elliptic system of three equations which comes from models in Bose-Einstein condensates. Comparing with existing works in the literature which have been on purely attractive or purely repulsive cases, our investigation focuses on the effect of mixed interaction of attractive and repulsive couplings. We establish the existence of least energy positive solutions and study asymptotic profile of the ground state solutions, giving indication of co-existence of synchronization and segregation. In particular we show symmetry breaking for the ground state solutions.

    We study the following nonlinear Schrödinger equations: - Δ u + V ( x ) u = f ( u ) in ℝ N . $- \Delta u + V(x) u = f(u) \quad \text{in } {\mathbb {R}^N}.$ The purpose of this paper is to establish the existence of a positive solutionunder general conditions which are weaker than the Ambrosetti–Rabinowitz condition.

    The paper concerns multiplicity of vector solutions for nonlinear Schrödinger systems, in particular of semi-positive solutions. New variational techniques are developed to study the existence of this type of solutions. Asymptotic behaviors are examined in various parameter regimes including both attractive and repulsive cases.
