This study explored the relationship between floating toes and athletic performance among collegiate track and field athletes. A total of 422 athletes (sprinters, jumpers, and distance runners) and 136 controls participated in this study. Plantar surface images were captured using a specially designed foot scanner during standing to calculate the floating toe score. The score, which sums the floating toe points of all toes, categorizes them into ‘floating toe’, ‘incomplete contact’, or ‘normal toe’. The World Athletics score served as a measure of athletic performance. Overall, collegiate track and field athletes had a significantly higher mean floating toe score (14.22 ± 4.87 points) than controls (11.06 ± 6.05 points) (p < 0.05), suggesting that fewer floating toes may confer a performance advantage. Within the track and field events, sprinters and jumpers showed significantly higher floating toe scores than distance runners (p < 0.05), emphasizing the variations in floating toes across different events. Although no significant correlation between floating toe score and World Athletics score was observed overall, a significantly negative correlation was found among distance runners (r = -0.25, p = 0.006), indicating that distance runners with higher athletic performance tend to have more pronounced floating toes. These findings suggest a nuanced relationship between floating toes and various aspects of track and field performance, particularly in distance running.

This study investigated the biomechanical analysis of sprinting performance for preschool children. The subjects were 77 preschool children who aged 3 to 6. They were filmed in VTR picture during 25m sprinting, with a pole located every 5m. Using the VTR pictures, average speed; stride frequency; stride length between the start point and the marked distance point of each were calculated. The results obtained were as follows:1 The sprinting velocity cause by height, and by stride length in preschool children. On the other hand, stride frequency is not related to height.2 It was suggested that the sprinting velocity was greatly related to stride length and stride length ratio, and also weakly related to the stride frequency.3 Times of 25m sprinting were decreased from 3 to 5 years for both boys and girls.4 It was suggest that both boys and girls reached the highest for sprinting velocity in the 5-20m section, and the decrease in sprinting velocity decreased for the stride frequency after 10m and for the stride length after 15m

The purpose of this study was to examination throwing distance through physical education learning programs ‘tou no unndou asobi’ for elementary school first grade student in softball throwing. The subjects were 34 (17boys 17girls) elementary school student. Subjects preformed softball throwing in the first and last for the learning program. The throwing motion was calculated by video camera (EX-F1) for throwing distance, throwing speed and throwing angle.Using the program that boys did not change, but girls increased throwing distance significantly. It is suggested that speed and angle of ball cannot be explained because there many factors that can be considered for ball throwing, such as the height at which the ball was thrown, the position, the body twisting, the approach and moving the center of gravity.

In Japan, new national standards for education, including physical education, will be enacted. Facing this transitional period of Japanese educational curriculum, we have identified following practical issues related to teaching physical education in primary and secondary schools. (1) Differences in track and field related skills and fitness between adolescent boys and girls, particularly regarding the sprint, should be reflected in teaching strategies for the sprint. (2) Many teachers have difficulties in teaching basketball tactics, and therefore, teachers should first demonstrate ideal movements of tactical players to their students. (3) With regard to teaching soccer, teachers must consider the hip joints of students, which are the core joints used to kick a ball, and therefore, teachers need to develop an issues-raised-type of learning programs, as well as an evaluation system for assessing students’ learning. (4) The anticipation of ball locations is a critical skill for successful reception in volleyball, and therefore, teaching strategies specializing in anticipatory skills should be developed. (5) In martial arts classes, students learn attack and defensive skills, as well as traditional thinking, behavior, and courtesy, which are parts of Japanese culture. In the revised national standards for education, karate, Japanese halberd, Japanese archery, Aikido, Shaolin Kung Fu, and Bayoneting will be introduced, and therefore, effective teaching strategies must be developed for the newly selected martial arts. (6) Physical expression and dancing have been leading active learning by students in physical education classes, and the current task is to popularize teaching strategies that correspond with national standards. (7) Systematic strategies for teaching the theory of physical education from primary to upper secondary school should be urgently developed.

This study investigated the effects that a cartwheel will give a forward roll and a backward roll, rationality and efficiency to learn from a cartwheel, when thinking of the connection of the tricks from the movements to widen the angle between the upper body and the legs.1 To learn a forward roll next to a cartwheel makes a forward roll that has a large angle between the upper body and the legs in short learning time. The movements to widen the angle between the upper body and the legs of a cartwheel are transferred a forward roll. So there is a connection between a cartwheel and a forward roll.2 To learn a backward roll next to a cartwheel improves a backward roll and makes a backward roll that has a large angle between the upper body and the legs in short learning time. The movements to widen the angle between the upper body and the legs of a cartwheel are transferred a backward roll. Especially, for children who can not do a backward roll to learn a backward roll next to a cartwheel is very effective. So there is a connection between a cartwheel and a backward roll.3 For children who have little experience of Floor Exercises to learn a forward roll or a backward roll next to a cartwheel promises to master the tricks rationally and efficiently. So this is a systematic learning that centralizes different lineages by setting the movements to widen the angle between the upper body and the legs as key skills.

This longitudinal study investigated the biomechanical analysis of sprinting performance from elementary school to junior high school. The subjects were 45 boys and girls who aged 6 to 15 (the 1st form at elementary school to the 3rd form at junior high school). They were filmed in VTR picture during 50m sprinting, with a pole located every 10m. Using the VTR pictures, starting reaction time; average speed; stride frequency; stride length between the start point and the marked distance point of each were calculated. The results obtained were as follows:1 Times of 50m sprinting decreased from the 1st form at elementary to the 3rd form at junior high school in boys, and decreased from the 1st form at elementary to the 3rd form at junior high school though there is no change at some forms in girls.2 In boys, the starting reaction times decreased from the 1st form to the 6th form. They slowed when it was in the 1st form at junior high school, and quickened when it was in the 2nd form and in the 3rd form of junior high school in boys. On the other hand, they quickened when it was in the 3rd form of junior high school though the change was not seen through the whole in girls.3 The stride frequency was a decreasing tendency from the 1st form at elementary to the 1st form at junior high school, then increased when it was more in the 2nd and 3rd form of junior high school in boys and girls.4 The stride length increased from the 1st form at elementary to the 3rd form at junior high school in boys. On the other hand, they increased from the 1st to the 6th form, and there is no change from the 6th form to the 3rd form at junior high school in girls.5 The height ratio stride was high value in the 1st and the 2nd form at junior high school in boys, and was high value in the 5th form at elementary school in girls.

This study examined the influence on “the ball throwing ability” by doing the circuit training partially of the physical education class. The circuit training of eight items was done at nine hours in total of three times a week and three weeks in November. Every time, it took about 14 minutes from 12 minutes to the circuit training. The subjects were 90 junior high school (42) boys and (48) girls. The results obtained were as follows:1. The student who improved the record of a ball throwing was 88.1%, and the student who did not improve the record was 11.9% by the circuit training for boys.2. For girls, the student who improved the record was 66.7%, and the student who the record did not change was 16.7%, and who decreased the record was 16.7%.3. The ball throw distance became as 23.83m from 21.76m for boys and 15.56m from 14.42m, and showed a significant expansion statistically respectively.Based on these findings, there were a lot of students who improved the ball throw distance because of the circuit training as a part of the physical education class.

This longitudinal study investigated the relation between new physical fitness tests and physique in junior high school students. The subjects were 128 junior high school boys and girls who aged 13 to 15(the 1s t form to the 3rd form in junior high school). The results obtained were as follows:1 Though junior high school student physique was almost constant with a nationwide mean value, the ability of 50m sprinting, endurance running, standing long jump and sit-ups in boys greatly exceeded a nationwide mean value by each school year. The ability of 50m sprinting, endurance running, standing long jump, sit-ups, handball throwing and sitting reach in girls greatly exceeded a nationwide mean value by each school year.2 The physique and ability of new physical fitness test items, except sitting reach, increased from the 1st form to the 3rd form in boys. While, it stopped to development standing long jump from the 1st form, and stopped to development 50m sprinting, endurance running, sitting reach and side-steps at 2nd form in girls.3 All the physical test items have greatly developed in junior high school student boy, and the development of the grip power and a handball throwing was remarkable. The girl's improvement of each item from the 1st form to the 3rd form is not large, and the development of motor ability is thought to be closing phases.4 As for the relation of the new physical fitness test items in the junior high school boy by the growth stage, it was suggested that the motor abilities such as the endurance running and sitting reach did not have the difference at the growth stage. It was suggested that 50m sprinting, a handball throwing and the grip power improve growing.

This longitudinal study investigated the biomechanical analysis of sprinting performance for elementary school. The subjects were 68 elementary school boys and girls who aged 6 to 12 (the 1st form to the 6th form). They were filmed in VTR picture during 50m sprinting, with a pole located every 10m. Using the VTR pictures, average speed; stride frequency; stride length between thestart point and the marked distance point of each were calculated. The results obtained were as follows:1 The height, weight, the average speed, the stride length, and the height ratio stride increased from the 1st form to the 6th form. Times of 50m sprinting and Rohrer index decreased, and the stride frequency was a decreasing tendency from the 1st form to the 6th form.2 It was clarified that the average speed is related to the stride length and the stride frequency regardless of the height in each school year.3 It was suggested that the amount of the increase and decrease of the stride frequency be strongly related to the amount of an increase of the average speed though the increase of the stride length was related to the amount of an increase of the average speed, too.Based on these findings, it is necessary to increase the stride frequency though the height, the stride length, and the weight increase to run fast in 50m sprinting at the elementary school age.

This study investigated through a first grade at a junior high school boy child and, until third grade time after two year, analyzed sprinting performance for 46 people. They were filmed in VTR picture during 50m sprinting. Using the VTR pictures, we calculated average speed, step frequency and step length. The results obtained were as follows: 1 It can be judged that the increased sprinting velocity cause by increased step length and no change of step frequency from first grade to third grade.2 The student who was the height growth spurt time was able to be classified into four groups, G 1 : the group with the earliest growth that has already passed PRV age, and ends growth, G 2: the group with an early growth in second and the growth speed is slowing gradually height velocity, G 3 : the group in the PHV amount age, G 4 : the group that grows slowly a~d the growth spurt starts. 3 As for G 1 thought to be precocious, 50m run time of second grade had quickened more than the time of first grade and There was no difference with the time of third grade. G 2 has quickened in the passing age. The differel)ce is not statistically seen first and second grade respectively as for G 3 and G4, and third grade has quickened respectively.4 It was suggested that the level of the participation of the step length and the step frequenc different according to the growth stage in shortening 50m run at time.

The sprinting performance, sprinting velocity, stride length and stride frequency, etc. were examined longitudinally from the elementary school child to the high school student through based on the peak height velocity(PHV) age. It is partially of the result as follows though the final conclusion is considered now.
Boy's sprinting velocity was increase up to the third grade of high school year by year, but it was stalled in the first grade of high school. On the other hand, for girls, it was increase up to the second grade of junior high school year by year, and it was stalled in the third grade of junior high school, and was even slower to third grade of high school. The stride frequency did not change too interannual, it was revealed that low value during at sixth grade and first grade of junior high school both boys and girls. The stride length increased year by year to the second grade of junior high school both boys and girls, then did not change much.

The sprinting performance, sprinting velocity, stride length and stride frequency, etc. were examined longitudinally from the primary school child to the junior high school student through based on the peak height velocity (PHV) age. It is partially of the result as follows though the final conclusion is considered now.
It is necessary to increase or to keep the stride frequency to run fast in 50m sprinting at the primary school age. It can be judged that the boy junior high school student has remarkably improved the sprinting velocity in the passing age because of the increase of the stride length. And, it is thought that the girl is not seen an increase at the sprinting velocity, and has reached a plateau at the sprinting velocity in the first grade of junior high school.
