This article proposes a foundational framework for the curriculum design of mathematical sciences education, based on the two paradigms of “Science for Society” and “Science for Science” articulated by the Science Council of Japan, in order to develop students’ decision-making abilities in mathematical sciences.

For this purpose, the paper proceeds as follows. First, it considers the philosophical aspects of the “Science for Society” and “Science for Science” paradigms, and maps current issues in mathematics education. Second, it attempts a description of the process of mathematical-scientific decision-making. Third, it lays out a foundational framework for curriculum design in mathematical sciences education, structured around four pillars: objectives, methods, contents, and evaluations/assessment. In discussing the main features of these four pillars, the paper focused specifically on the following: 1) six process abilities, 2) the ability of realizing mathematical-scientific and social values, 3) the framework of mathematical-scientific decision-making, and 4) the basic structure of lessons in mathematical sciences education. In conclusion, the paper proposes an overall structure for mathematical sciences education, and identifies three types of lessons for developing mathematical-scientific decision-making abilities.

The purpose of our research is to clarify what type of strategies students of each level or each stage use and how respective strategies develop in relation to the scales for assessing the degrees of students' understanding about " The Decimal Multiplied by The Decimal, The Decimal Divided by The Decimal ". 177 students on X defined as a set of 12 multiplicative questions, 185 students on Y defined as a set of 11 divisional questions, and 187students on Z defined as a set of 13 divisonal questions were subjects of analyses. A s a result of analyses, we clarifyed thefollowig. (1)For X , there was the difference between 5th grades and 6th grades on the score , which depends on their strategies, but for Y and Z, there wasn't the difference on the scores. (2)We knew it was easy for students to understand the situations of questions in order of ' X → Z → Y '.

In this paper we propose a system of materials from primary level to upper secondary level, and develop teaching materials through inquiring helix on cylinder at each level. To identify the system of materials we analyze textbooks/teachers guides and prior studies from global perspective or from long term and local perspective (Ikeda & Watanabe, 2010). We develop two concrete materials following with the system of materials: one is ‘length of helix on cylinder’, and the other is ‘an angle of incline and step of helix’ and we focus on definition of helix.

In this paper, the purpose of our research is to develop the scale for assessingthe teacher's capacity for giving lessons in arithmetic education. For that purpose, wedifferentiated the teacher's capacity into the plan-capacity, the development-capacity, andthe assessment-capacity. We designed the test which consists of 51 items and carried it out on atotal of 290 teachers in elementary schools. We then conducted exploratory fact analysis ona result of the test, and 4 factors were selected from 13 items . Cronbach's coefficient ofreliability was positive for 4 factors. The Goodness of Fit Index(GFI), Adjusted Goodnessof Fit Index(AGFI), Comparative of Fit Index(CFI), and Root Mean Square Error ofApproximation(RMSEA) were positive for 13 items in terms of conirmatory factor analysis. Asa result, 13 items of the test were deems to be valid. So we could develop the scale forassessing the teacher's capacity for giving lessons in arithmetic education.

The purpose of this research is to develop the scales for assessing the degrees of students'understanding about "The Decimal Multplied by The Decimal , The Decimal Divided by The Decimal " . For that purpose, we devised the problems to be checked up on the levels on the basis of earlier reseaches andcarried out the test on a total of 191 5th grade and 6th grade students in elementary schools. We thendifferentiated the levels and the stages within the levels by scalogram analysis on " The Decimal Multplied byThe Decimal , The Decimal Divided by The Decimal". We also calculated coefficient of reliability by theKuder-Richardson formula KR-20 and correlation coefficient between the results of the test and the third termscores about the students. In conclusion, we could develop the scales for assessing the levels of students'understanding about "The Decimal Multplied by The Decimal , The Decimal Divided by The Decimal".

In this paper, we developed scales for assessing dispositions to mathematics for teachers andstudents in elementary schools. In order to develop scales for dispositions to mathematics of techers andstudents, we carried out two tests on a total of 137 teachers and 332 6th grade students in elementaryschools. We then conducted exploratory fact analysis on the results of two tests, as follows:
・Two factors were selected from respective items of two tests taken by teachers and students.
・Cronbach's α coefficients of reliability were positive for two factors.
・The Goodness of Fit Index(GFI), Adjusted Goodness of Fit Index(AGFI), and Root Mean SquareError of Approximation(RMSEA) were positive for respective items in two tests in termsof confirmatory factor analysis. As a result, the respective items of the two tests were deemed to bevalid.
After analysis we evaluated the relationships between dispositions to mathematics for teachers andstudents.

The purpose of our research is to develop scales for teachers' and students' affect tomathematics in arithmetic education and to find out relationships between teacher's and student's affect tomathematics. To develop scales for assessing teachers' and students' affect to mathematics, we carried outtwo examinations which were intended for 137 teachers and 332 6th grade students in elementary schools.According to results of the exploratory factor analysis for two tests, values of Cronbach's α coefficients ofreliability were good in the loaded factors . Moreover, Goodness of Fit Index(GFI), Adjusted Goodnessof Fit Index(AGFI), and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation(RMSEA) were good in validity ofitems of factors loaded by confirmatory factor analysis. Therefore we could develop scales for assessingteachers' and students' affect to mathematics through analyses and inqiries of results of two tests. We alsoclarified relationships between teachers' and students' affect to mathematics by comparing the morecommon ones of items of teachers' and students' affect to mathematics.

In order to research tasks for mathematization in a technological environment, this study observed the processes where students constructed a mathematical entity from mechanical linkages through being asked questions by their teachers. From a Vygotskian perspective (Wertsch, 1991), the functions and restrictions of mediational means were focused upon. The process of students' construction was divided into four cognitive phases according to the representational phases of mathematization (Isoda, 1993). The process illustrated that obstacles to changing the cognitive mode from non-reflective cognition to reflective cognition (Norman, 1993) and the roles of mediational means changed as a result of the teacher's questions that aimed at overcoming the restrictions of the means from representation to interpretation. As for the tasks for mathematization, this case study implied the necessity of achieving synchronization between mathematical representation and physical objects.

In this study, we have developed and implemented in 2019 a teacher education program for mathematical modelling for in-service and pre-service teachers that incorporates the transformation of a formulated mathematical task in textbooks into mathematical modelling tasks, and research lesson based on these tasks. A detailed analysis of the data from the implemented program revealed that teacher education program method was effective in the following ways. It enables novice modelling teachers to: (1) understand the characteristics of each criterion of the modelling task, through activities that transform familiar textbook mathematised tasks into modelling tasks, and (2) develop and implement modelling lessons incorporating examples from students' realities, through lesson study during discussions with teachers from different backgrounds and researchers.

First, the "Basic Framework of Mathematical Science Education" and the "Basic Structure of Lessons" based on it were outlined, and the philosophy of Mathematical Science Education in school education was clarified. In addition, the Multi-Interdisciplinary model was presented as a curriculum composition model for mathematical science education. Second, the methods that are useful for mathematical science decision-making are organized into a framework consisting of "phase" using the method and "objectives", "activities" specific to the method. Third, I developed 12 teaching materials for elementary, junior high, and high schools and designed lessons. Lessons were held for six of them, and suggestions for teaching and learning were obtained. Fourth, we conceived a workshop for mathematics teachers in order to cultivate their view of mathematical science education.

In mathematical modelling through setting up problems from the situation of real world, there are most cases that the experiences of modeller influence for progressing of mathematical modelling. I focus on the Gen-Bamen that is/are the situation(s) which the modeller remembers based on the own experiences. I identify two functions of Gen-Bamen (a horizontal function and a reflective function) with applied 'Noesis/Noema' using the method of phenomenology by Edmund Husserl in the middle latter period. I confirm the horizontal function and the reflective one for a real mathematical modelling with referring applied response analysis mapping.
